Apartments and Units - Communal Composting in Monash

If you live in an apartment, flat, unit or other communal residential property within Moansh, and there is documented interest from your owners corporation and other residents of the property, you can apply for Monash Council's communal composting rebate.

The communal rebate does not prevent individual households within the same complex from also utilising a council rebate for a personal compost system.

Rebates and terms for shared/communal systems:
  • Unlike individual household systems with an annual rebate available, communal systems attract a one-off rebate for the complex.
  • An 80% compost rebate can be claimed on a single compost system.

Each property will be assessed on a case by case basis, and will need the following to qualify:
  • Complete and submit the EOI form below
  • Commitment to completing a baseline data survey and a six-month follow up survey
  • Commit to showing on the Compost Community Map
  • Commit to having a workshop with Compost Community to support with system use
  • Evidence of support from your Owners Corporation and evidence of commitment from multiple households within the property
  • Owners Corporation accepts responsibility for providing new residents with information and education on the communal compost system and outlining agreed resident responsibilities to maintain system.
Once accepted, we will provide details on how to order your communal system.
