Compost Community terms of use

Ordering from Compost Community constitutes acceptance of your Council's terms and conditions and the terms and conditions set out on this page.

Ordering a subsidised product does not automatically mean acceptance of the rebate by the respective Council. We may need to verify your address and eligibility for a rebate. Should you not be eligible, you will be given the option of paying the gap or cancelling your order.

Should you elect to receive a refund rather than pay the gap when you have:
  • ordered with a code for an ineligible address or made multiple orders using a discount code on more than one occasion
  • ordered using a discount code for a council other than your own council area
  • order than more than one item at the reduced rate where council only covers one (rather than ordering your additional items from the Public Store), or
  • simply changed your mind
then refunds will exclude our out of pocket costs (admin and merchant fees of $ or up to 5% of your order cost, which ever is the greater) to cover our out of pocket expenses.

Privacy

As a small, family owned Australian business, we value your privacy.

Your details are collected solely for the purposes of communicating with you for the Compost Community Program and delivering your order. Your name, contact details and order details will be shared with your local council (if they are a member) as they are funding the program. Any answers to our survey questions will be deidentified and the data will be used in its raw, deidentified form for program evaluation to calculate the environmental benefit of the program.  Your details will be kept secure at all times and will never be shared with any third party or used for any other purpose other than for which it was collected.

Your responses to any surveys, including any personal information you provide are being collected by Compost Community for your relevant council in accordance with its Privacy Policy, the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014. We will only use this information for the purpose it was collected and may use it for a secondary, related purpose that could reasonably be expected, such as sending you an invite to a sustainability workshop. You may access information you have provided to us at any time and make corrections if you believe the information is incorrect.

Please visit the About page for more information about the team that manages Compost Community.

Eligibility terms and conditions

Please click on your Council's logo on the Ordering page to review terms and conditions specific to your council.

Worm Policy

Worms are harvested fresh and leave the farm in excellent condition. No responsibility can be taken for worms once they leave the premises here as we have no control over their transport, storage or time taken to unpack them and set up the worm farm. By ordering worms you agree to:
  • unpack them immediately on receipt
  • collect them immediately if they are diverted to post office or other collection point
  • not leave them in a hot car
  • provide a cool and shaded location for delivery and storage
  • read the 'learn' section for advice on caring for your worms
  • not hold Compost Community or its suppliers responsible for injury or death of worms once shipped.

It takes about an hour to harvest 1000 worms, so please give us at least a day's notice for pickup orders.

Worms are available for pick up year round. During warmer months, post will be delayed as we wait for a string of cooler days, therefore:
  • we encourage pickup of worms during these times
  • having your order delivered to your office or a place that has someone present at all times to sign for and bring indoors, or
  • ordering without worms.

By ordering worms with your farm, you agree to these terms and conditions.

Delivery FAQs

Can I have my item/s shipped to my work (or other) address?

We can deliver anywhere in metro Melbourne. However PLEASE ensure that you put your home address in "Billing Address" and delivery address in "Shipping Address" so that we can confirm your eligibility and cross reference your home address to verify your order without any delays.

At the very least, utilise the Note to Seller or Delivery Instructions fields to ensure we can match you to your municipality.

If you order within a municipality and provide only an address outside o that municipality you ris your order being automatically rejected.

Can I pick my item/s up
Yes, you are welcome to pick items up from Langwarrin. This will save you on postage for non-subsidised items. Select the Click and Collect option for pickup.
