Food Waste

Do you know how much food we actually waste in Australia alone? Watch the video below for some eye opening insights.

Learn how to avoid "avoidable" food waste

Visit 'Food Know How'
Visit 'Love Food, Hate Waste'
Just like "reduce, reuse, recycle" for packaging, food waste is best avoided in the first place.

Compost forms the "recycle" component of the three Rs.

To reduce food waste:
  • Plan meals
  • Buy only what you need - shop smarter
  • Learn how to pickle or preserve your excess food
To reuse food waste:
  • Learn great recipes to cook with leftovers
  • Plan ahead and take your leftovers to school/work for lunch
To recycle food waste:
  • Learn the difference between avoidable and unavoidable food waste, and eliminate avoidable waste via reduce and reuse.
  • Get to know your food waste, and decide on the compost system (or combination of systems) that best suits your food recycling (compost) needs.
